Fringe Gallery
FRINGE GALLERY
LOCATION: 307 East Colorado Avenue, Telluride
Fringe Gallery is excited to present the works of two accomplished Telluride artists in its June exhibition, "Passages in Time: Nancy B. Frank and Micheline Klagsbrun." Join us in the gallery to celebrate the exhibition opening on Thursday, June 4th, from 5 - 7pm. Both artists will be in attendance, and refreshments will be served.
Nancy B. Frank and Micheline Klagsbrun are neighbors and friends who have been supporting each other's artistic practices for years, but "Passages in Time" marks the first occurrence of their works exhibited side by side. In this duo exhibition, the visual language employed by each artist differs, but the common element that brings them together is time. Frank and Klagsbrun are both concerned with the traces left by time: weathered structures, worn surfaces, remembered histories, and emotional imprints that span generations.
Nancy B. Frank's "Earth Gems" series closely explores elements of nature, such as stones, grasses, and wood, whose textures are enhanced with the passage of time. Her paintings emerge from photographs; what begins as observation progresses through the material application of acrylic paint, gel mediums, acrylic cold wax, transparencies, and metallic faux techniques create the remnants of natural histories deeply embedded in rocks, roots, and riverbeds.
Micheline Klagsbrun introduces a body of work she calls "Traversing the Silence," which is a continued exploration of transformation, memory, and the impermanence of forms. While using traditional materials such as acrylic, ink, and paper, Klagsbrun also incorporates bones, bark, and even snakeskin to create structures of passage, such as bridges, boats, and fences. These fragile crossings connect the past with the present and extend into the unknown.
"Passages in Time" invites viewers to consider their own passages: the personal transformations that shape identity, the structures that sustain us, and the ways memories, however fragmented, continue to guide us forward.

Ah Haa School for the Arts
AH HAA SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS
LOCATION: 155 West Pacific Avenue, Telluride
Join Ah Haa School for the Arts in welcoming Boulder, CO artist Andrea Wedell. Andrea joins Ah Haa as an instructor for a summer intensive, Retreat: Mastering Surfaces in Oil and Cold Wax from June 4–8.
"The Painting Pushes Back" showcases stunning examples of Andrea's process: building layers over time, leaving traces of earlier decisions, creating depth while simultaneously flattening the plane. Each piece contains its own history of change, like a visual record of color, trials, errors, and persistence. Driven by tension, her textural paintings exist between complexity and simplicity, movement and stillness, and most importantly, balance and imbalance. Andrea Wedell has painted and exhibited her work for more than thirty years in the United States and Europe.
Meet the artist during Art Walk and enjoy an artist talk!

La Cocina de Luz
LA COCINA DE LUZ
LOCATION: 123 E Colorado Ave, Telluride
La Cocina is featuring artist Jean Ackley for the months of June and July.
Jean lives in the San Juan Mountains and has spent a lifetime perfecting her aesthetic and techniques. She graduated with a degree in art, worked for many years as a potter, and later returned to study at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Her work has included mixed-media bas reliefs, collages, drawings, and a sculptural installation for Stux Gallery in Boston.
She has taught students of all ages, including sculpture and drawing at the University of Massachusetts and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, as well as at other institutions.
In recent years, her focus has been on silk painting. Silk painting is a complex and demanding process that requires patience and skill. She creates a template, transfers the image to silk, applies gutta resist for dye barriers, adds the silk dyes, and steam sets the finished piece.
The images in this collection are high-quality archival giclee prints of Ackley’s silk paintings. All materials – including paper, mat board, backing, dust cover, and framing components – are archival and designed for longevity.
