Mural Workshop with Paul Distefano at Telluride Arts HQ:

Flash Grant recipient Paul Distefano is a multidisciplinary artist who has been creating visual art throughout his life. Over the years, he developed a passion for large-scale work in acrylic spray paint, drawn to the medium for both its intimacy and its public spectacle. He has had the opportunity to paint murals throughout Europe and the USA, as well as participate in the Yardworks International Graffiti Festival in Glasgow, Scotland. For Paul, mural painting is about creating bold, accessible work that becomes part of the environment and community around it.

The mural depicts a woman looking beyond the wall toward the mountains surrounding Telluride. Her expression reflects resilience and a sense of hope, suggesting someone who has experienced hardship but continues to look ahead. The surrounding landscape connects the painted figure to the real environment, creating a visual relationship between the mural and the mountains. At its core, the work explores resilience, reflection, and the ability to move forward.
