JULY’S CREATIVE EXCHANGE WILL BE LEAD BY ELLEN METRICK, TITLED “A NOVEL PROCESS: TIME AND PLACE”.

At the July 9 Creative Exchange, San Miguel County poet-turned-novelist Ellen Metrick will share and hold a discussion about the novel process, travel, and finding time to write. Through slides from a recent trip to Iceland to cat sitting adventures and community building, Metrick will share her experiences over the past year of novelling it. Anyone struggling with time for their creative endeavors will gain ideas from Metrick and other creatives. Bring your struggles and practices to share.

San Miguel County Poet Ellen Metrick launched into fiction writing recently and is working on a story for middle grade readers that takes place in Iceland in the Settlement Age, around 900 CE. During her second trip to Iceland, she typed out 30,000 words, thanks to a nine-day cat sitting job, a few years of research, some fourth-grade students, and a Telluride Arts Professional Development Grant.
