Through a Different Lens Colby Smith: Beneath the Bridges of Paris, Series 7

Colby Smith: Beneath the Bridges of Paris, Series 7

$3,500.00

Medium: Pigment Ink on Canvas, 1 of 10
Dimensions: 36 in H x 36 in W unframed, 37 1/2 in H x 37 1/2 in W framed

Artist Statement:

Photographers often shy away from embracing abstraction in their work. Yet digital processes now offer the ability to transform the familiar into something abstract—inviting impression and emotion to become integral parts of the final image. In this series, Colby Smith aims to move beyond what the camera captures, instead depicting what the mind senses.

Entitled Beneath the Bridges of Paris, the series was inspired during a boat ride on the River Seine. While reflecting on how to see Paris’s iconic bridges from a new perspective, the artist looked upward and discovered a hidden tapestry—the intricate stonework beneath the bridges. These images reveal the unseen history, timelessness, and quiet beauty that lies beneath the bridges of Paris.
