Kaytha Coker Potts
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
Drawing from her background as an art educator, she works with a combination of mediums and conceptual approaches informed by years of teaching and creative exploration. She began actively promoting and selling her work in 2016, focusing primarily on yarn and fabric paintings while experimenting with the wide range of visual effects made possible by these unconventional materials.
Her current practice centers on layered, multimedia compositions rich in color, texture, and depth. Using yarn, fabric, paint, and pencil, she creates vibrant works that move between references to art history—most notably in her Altered Antiquity series—and contemporary concerns. Her ongoing Grid series explores the influence of technology on daily life, translating digital structures into tactile, physical form.
