Elinoff & Co.
ELINOFF & CO. GALLERY
LOCATION: 204 West Colorado Avenue, Telluride
Elinoff Gallery is featuring a special exhibit by Mojgan Arashvand.
Mojgan was born in Iran and lives in Colorado, where she practices medicine and makes portraits. Her work is about faces. She has come to believe that a face — met with patience, held in the right light — is one of the most worthwhile things a person can look at. There is a quiet dignity in being seen, and a quiet generosity in allowing it. She is drawn to both.
Mojgan makes portraits all over the world: in the Omo Valley of Ethiopia, in Japan, among the irezumi tattoo masters and the bodies they have marked, in the open country of the American West, and in the faces she find closer to home. Different languages, different lives, the same human light.
Mojgan Arashvand came to photography the way she came to medicine — by listening closely, and by trusting that what is in front of her is worth her full attention.
