Artist Mini Interview: Kylee Firlit Creative

What influences outside of art shape your practice?

I infuse my art with the inspiration I find from days spent in the mountains and nights under the desert stars. I create bold and colorful artwork to catch the viewer's attention and tell a story, whether it's the feeling of a journey into the mountains or an inherent appreciation for the natural world. My artistic style focuses on bold linework, lots of detail and tons of color. My vibrant and dreamy illustration style of abstract landscapes and animals makes my work unique. Grateful for the surroundings I climb, run, bike, ski, and breathe in, I believe in creating a future where everyone can find meaning in the outdoors and inspire stories worth sharing.

What is your favorite quote or saying?

People think imagination is about escape, but I think it’s about discovering who you are. There’s a quote that’s become a compass that guides my work:

“Imagination is a labyrinth in which all men lose their way but find themselves.” (Jorge Luis Borges)

That’s what art is for me. A place where you don’t have to know where you’re going but end up exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Where can people follow your work or learn more about you?
