June 1st - July 1st 2017

Telluride Arts HQ will continue to show: “Matter of Dreams,” an exhibit by Karen Wippich during the month of June.

The exhibit title, “Matter of Dreams,” was chosen because, as is the case with most of her work, Wippich begins her method of creation by tapping into her subconscious mind, almost a dream state. “I like to follow my instincts, letting the work lead me to the final destination. I love the feeling I get when I see the painting take shape. The more unexpected the better the experience.”

Wippich grew up moving across the US, spending time alone creating characters and fantasies. Most of her adult life has been spent working as a graphic designer. Her design work has been widely published in the US and internationally. A few years ago her focus changed to something she dreamed about as a child, to be a working artist.

Karen’s expressionist acrylic paintings show her graphic influence with figures inhabiting and blending into abstract environments, their bodies breaking into geometric shapes, incised by lines. Her paintings have been shown extensively in Oregon galleries as well as shows in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington State and Washington DC.

The show runs thru June 2017, located at 135 W Pacific Ave. in Telluride, Colorado. Open daily from 12-6pm or by appointment.
