Megan Padilla | Chromatic Concepts

March 2019, Telluride Arts HQ Gallery

Telluride Arts’ HQ Gallery in Telluride, CO presents, Chromatic Concepts, an exhibit by Megan Padilla. The show will be on display through the month of March 2019. The Art Walk opening reception will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019, 5 - 8 pm.

In her exhibit, Chromatic Concepts, Megan Padilla explores and studies the perception, depth, and stunning gradients of color through the nature of alcohol inks, creating original abstract pieces that are both dramatic in composition and color. The alcohol inks provide vibrant, colorful effects. It offers little control, while the harmony in color combinations deliver some sense of order through fluid movement and a visual experience to engage the viewers. Padilla is able to manipulate the medium by utilizing various techniques and tools that create colorful, contemporary elements and textures. They stand alone or can come together in modern collage-based composition to form a cohesive piece. Megan’s alcohol ink paintings are unique due to technique and the unpredictable nature of the medium. Each piece is created on Yupo paper, mounted onto creadled wood panels, and glazed with an epoxy resin, resulting in a brilliant finish.

Artist Megan Padilla was born, raised, and is currently residing in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her husband and stepdaughter. She is a graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and Planning and is currently working as an intern architect. Padilla has always been creative and enjoys producing art as an outlet through every season of life and has a passion to add beauty and interest through her artwork. A self-taught artist, Padilla has practiced art from an early age and continues to hone her skills whenever possible. As an artist, she is very precision-oriented and technically focused. While most of her art career has been spent using watercolor, graphite, ballpoint pen, pyrography (wood burning), and acrylics/oils, her current works consist of alcohol inks.
