“…..It’s washing down elk steaks with ouzo.”

“Once upon a time I traveled around Europe and the Middle East on a bicycle painting the scenery that interested me and drawing the faces I met on the streets.  One city stands out above the rest during those years of vagabonding and adventure. I returned there more often than I can recall. The city was Rhodes Greece in the far east of the Aegean Islands.  I learned to paint well there because it was there that I loved so well to paint.

The skills developed in Rhodes are as transportable as my brushes and eventually I brought them home to America, specifically Telluride.  Combining recent paintings of Rhodes with Telluride, its cultural diversity run amok!  It’s washing down elk steaks with ouzo.”
