WORK FOR SALE

All work is available for sale through Telluride Arts at the time of exhibit. We handle promotion, insurance, taxes, fees and help with shipping. Split is 60-40 or 70-30 in the library or if you volunteer for 30 + hours during your gallery exhibit. Accepting proposals for wall art, installations, sculpture, and jewelry.

OUR SPACES

Work for the galleries must be new and can't have been exhibited recently at other venues in or near Telluride. Some exceptions apply but this is the general rule of thumb. The Library provides a great venue to show work that has already been seen.

Gallery 81435

230 South Fir Street

Gallery 81435 is a vibrant contemporary art space in the heart of town. The large, open, light-filled gallery lends itself to very contemporary work, and more high-end exhibits. Exhibits generally run for one month. Gallery 81435 Floorplan.

Telluride Arts' Headquarters

135 West Pacific Avenue

Our newest space, located across from Wilkinson Public Library, is the fresh headquarters of Telluride Arts. Featuring a well-lit gallery space, retail space, and offices. Accepting proposals for wall art as well as jewelry. HQ Floorplan.

Wilkinson Public Library

100 West Pacific Avenue

The Library exhibits are the most community driven and receive high traffic throughout the day. There are four exhibit spaces at the Wilkinson Public Library. Shows open during Art Walk months and hang for 3-6 months at a time.  Work shown at the Library can not be priced, but sales can be directed through Telluride Arts.

Pop-up Exhibits

Telluride Arts hosts pop-up exhibits, as space is available.

THE AGREEMENT

Artists Responsibilities will be detailed in the contract issued at time of agreement.  We are happy to send a sample if you want more information. Here are some basics:

  • Artwork should be framed (or finished for exhibit) and must be ready to hang with durable hardware.
  • Artists are asked to show up for Art Walk openings and help with food and drink.
  • We promote our shows through Twitter, Facebook, our website, regional and state-wide press releases and show postcards.
  • Artists transport work to and from the venue.
  • Artists must provide all info to us by the deadlines so we can promote the show.

THE PROCESS

Exhibit recommendations are made by a show committee, and final scheduling is done by Telluride Arts staff.

The show committee is a comprised of a few artists that volunteer their time and expertise to evaluate exhibit proposals and make recommendations for scheduling. The committee members bring different perspectives, knowledge, and aesthetic appreciation to curating. They are asked to consider the quality of work, and give special consideration to regional artists and small grant recipients.

Other factors that influence scheduling include the amount of exposure an artist has had, the consideration of months to sell art vs. best months to have more experimental exhibits and installations, specific programming goals, and collaborations with local festivals.

The utmost consideration is quality of the work, and we trust our committee to fill our galleries with work that enriches our local artist community and also showcases the most innovative and best work happening in Telluride.

Yes, I would like to volunteer
We love it when our artists volunteer at Gallery 81435 to help keep the doors open. We have found that artists benefit from the feedback and that audiences benefit from the context they gain when learning about the work from the artist. To receive the 30-70 split, we ask for a 30hr volunteer commitment that must be planned in advance of the show.
