Taught by PETER PINO

Zia elder and rock art artist Peter Pino will demonstrate the art of making petroglyphs – the ancient art of carving symbols and pictures into a rock surface. In this four-hour class, students will learn Peter’s own technique as they create their own small petroglyphs, leaving with a better understanding of how larger projects can be undertaken. Peter recommends students bring rock chisels or dremels, or simply a hard nail (or screw) and a small hammer – as well as appropriate safety goggles. They may also bring a rock of choice, though a selection will be provided by the instructor.

If possible, students should bring a chisel or hammer, or even a nail or screw to carve with.  Additional tools will be available at the workshop.
