The Telluride Society for Jazz is thrilled to be bringing award-winning vocalist Kathy Kosins to Telluride on Wednesday March 28th and Thursday March 29th.

With the release on February 9th of her sixth album “Uncovered Soul,” Kathy is winning the
hearts of critics and fans around the globe with her eclectic musical palette; one that expands the rich history of Jazz and Soul.

Born and raised during the legendary Motown years in Detroit, Kathy’s soulful voice, flawless
phrasing and deep routed passion for stories and characters has been wowing audiences since she first came into prominence in late 80s’. Kathy is truly an amazing, high-spirited woman who, in addition to being a world-class singer, is also a highly successful professional artist. So, while in Telluride, Kathy will be conducting both music and painting events at the Telluride High School and the Ah Haa School for the Arts.

On Wednesday March 28th at Noon, Kathy will be conducting a 1-hour class at the Telluride
High School for the music students.

On Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Kathy will be conducting a singing workshop for any singing enthusiasts in the Telluride and surrounding communities. This class is open to the public and free; but, will require pre-registration by calling Jim Berkowitz at 720-384-5953.

On Thursday the 29th from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Kathy will be conducting a clinic at the Ah Haa School called “Improvisation on Canvas” In this class, students will paint to jazz music while focusing on freedom of expression in the abstract, using texture and colors to guide them. Several jazz artists of the Be Bop era like Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Dizzy, Miles, etc., will be featured as students learn to paint totally from intuition.
This clinic requires pre-registration and a $75 course fee which can be completed at the Ah Haa School for the Arts website or by calling 970-728-3886.

In the evening, from 6 - 8 pm, Kathy will celebrate the opening of her art exhibition at the Ahh Haa Gallery (the Exhibition will run from March 29th until April 4th), where she will be displaying several pieces of her work and will entertain the audience while she sings (with Denver keyboardist Jeff Jenkins) and paints! This will also be free, open to the public event with beer, wine, and heavy appetizers.
