Explore the colorful world of painting on silk.

For four weeks, indulge yourself in the magical world of batik painting on silk. Using dyes that are appropriate for silk and wool, as well as fabric blends that contain silk and wool, students will first focus on making a set of prayer flags while learning about color, surface design, silk painting, wax resist, shibori, and more. Classes meet two evenings per week and during optional open studio sessions with the instructor on weekends. All pieces will be dry cleaned to remove wax (please budget an additional $8 per piece for dry cleaning) and then dye set. The course materials fee includes seven scarves/ fabric pieces. Kathy will have lots of extra scarves and fabric on hand for students to purchase separately.

This course is geared toward those with previous fabric dyeing experience, and limited to six students. Open studio work times will be available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the course – dates and times TBD.

PLEASE NOTE: This class is at the Stone Building (not at Ah Haa). Materials fee covers seven scarves/fabric pieces.
