Just in time for Telluride's 44th Film Festival a new pop up debuts on Main Street.
Spearheaded by two Telluride long timers, Ellen Geldbaugh and Catherine Walsh, ON MAIN., a new pop up opens on August 30th at 359 East Colorado Avenue. Walsh and Geldbaugh are setting out to bring a progressive art experience to town and to a wider audience. Open through the fall season, the pop up will feature the work of Brooklyn based artist Jarrod Beck. This is the second pop up for Geldbaugh. The first, in 2015 at the same location, was a lifestyle shopping experience that featured high end, uniquely designed, furniture and objects for the home. This time around she partnered with Walsh, a long term supporter of the arts, who envisioned an exhibition that caters to the unique weave of Telluride locals and second home owners. In Walsh's mind, Jarrod Beck was the ideal choice. Mr. Beck, born in Albany, New York is an installation artist, printmaker and sculptor. His residencies, awards, solo and collaborative exhibitions are extensive, spanning the US, India, China and Europe. Beck has successfully bridged his experience in architecture, exhibition design and fine art to create a new body of work which will be shown for the first time at ON MAIN. The shown entitled "Structures" features sculpture of two different mediums, aluminum and glass. Beck has both a BA and M.Arch in Architecture from Tulane University and an MFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin. He has visited Telluride twice in the past year with an exhibition in mind. Walsh is on the board of trustees of the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas and a beauty/fashion consultant with clients in New York, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Geldbaugh who has worked in both interior design and architecture has had a presence in Telluride for 20+ years. "We're enthusiastic to offer a unique, curated space featuring art that is both feminine and masculine at the same time. Jarrod's work is a magical combination of rough and delicate, handsome and lovely, humble and sophisticated." Beck will be in Telluride installing the show starting August 27th and will be at ON MAIN. August 31st, September 1st and 2nd to speak about the work. Hours during film festival are extended from 10am until closing and 11-7 Tuesday through Sunday throughout the fall season.
